SWTOR Sergeant Fideltyn Rusk Companion Guide

This is my SWTOR Sergeant Fideltyn Rusk Companion Guide. Here I will tell you everything you need to know about the Chagrian rebel.

The Jedi Knight is a melee-oriented Jedi class available to the Galactic Republic. Its Empire counterpart is the Sith Warrior. This class primarily uses melee attacks (with some force-related abilities) and can fill the role of both a melee DPS and a tank, depending on which advanced class you pick. This class has no healing abilities in either specialization. The Jedi Knight can progress into two separate classes: the Guardian and the Sentinel. Note that right now there appears to be no way to change your advanced class in SWTOR. The Guardian is a tanking-oriented advanced class of the Jedi Knight.

It uses a single lightsaber and wears heavy armor. Depending on which talent points you pick, it can both be a tank and or a DPS class. The Sentinel appears to be one of the top DPS classes in SWTOR, and likely to be the top melee DPS class in SWTOR, at least on the Republic side. The Sentinel dual-wields lightsabers (i.e. holds one in each hand) and specializes in dealing damage. The Sentinel is the only Galactic Republic advanced class which has only one ability: to deal damage.

Sergeant Fideltyn Rusk will be your further Companion as a Jedi Knight. You can find him at around level 35 once you finish your class quests on the planet Hoth. Raised by a colony of pacifist Chagrians, Rusk rebelled against his family’s beliefs and enlisted with the Republic military as soon as he could. At first, he proved to be a brilliant soldier and was identified as a rising star in the Republic’s ranks. Somewhere along the way, however, his bravery crossed the line into recklessness..

Sex: Male
Race: Chagrian
Recruited: Hoth
Level of recruitment: Approximately level 35

Rusk specializes in being a ranged DPS. This means he will deal hefty amounts of damage from a distance. He would be most useful to those choosing a Tanking path, allowing you to keep the agro whilst he deals the damage. Those choosing a DPS path would be better off using a Tanking Companion such as T7-01 or Lord Scourge.

Sergeant Rusk will prefer your conversation options if your choices involve: Killing Imperials, protecting the Republic, and motivating others to fight, though he will dislike options consisting of: Avoiding fights, weakness, and disrespecting authority.

Personality: Dark
Role: Ranged DPS
Likes: Killing Imperials, protecting the Republic, motivating others to fight
Dislikes: Avoiding fights, weakness, disrespecting authority
Primary Weapon: Blaster Cannon
Secondary Weapon: Generator

As you complete missions in SWTOR, you will notice that items specifically intended for your Companions will be given as rewards. These will be either new armor or upgraded weapons and off hand items. The way to tell which rewards are specific to your Companions is by looking at the item title. If they are for Rusk, they will contain his name.

You could also visit a Heavy Armor Vendor for Sergeant Rusk as this is the armor he prefers to use. Doing this will cost you a lot of credits, but will ensure that he has the best armor possible. You might also like to spend your Planetary Commendations on him, though I advise against this, as Commendations can be hard to come by, and should be used for your Character instead.

This SWTOR Sergeant Fideltyn Rusk is not only intended to provide you with information on his combat style, but also to ensure you are aware of his crew skills capabilities. If used correctly, he will gain you additional bonuses of: +10 Armstech Efficiency, and +10 Scavenging Efficiency.

Armor Proficiency: Heavy
Primary Stat: Aim
Secondary Stat: Endurance
Crew Skill Proficiency: +10 Armstech Efficiency, +10 Scavenging Efficiency
Romance-able: No
Favorite Gifts: military gear, Republic memorabilia, weapons, cultural artifacts, luxury, technology, trophies

Sergeant Rusk is not a romance-able Companion character. However, gaining his affection regardless is still a good idea, as doing so will earn you bonuses including: a higher “Presence” attribute for your character, interesting stories and Companion quests, and improved results in crew skill missions.

If you play typically as a Light side Jedi Knight, you may find it more difficult to gain affection with him. Fear not though, as you can still gain his affection by using Companion gifts. He prefers certain gifts including: military gear, Republic memorabilia, weapons, cultural artifacts, luxury, technology, and trophies. If you buy the wrong kind of gift, it will result in gaining no affection with him, not to mention you will have wasted your credits.
