SWTOR Qyzen-Fess Companion Guide

Here is my SWTOR Qyzen-Fess Companion Guide, where you will find everything you will ever need to know about this great hunter.

For more than 20,000 years, the Jedi Order has worked to promote peace and balance in the Galactic Republic, but each new day brings with it a new threat, promising to rip the Jedi and the entire galaxy apart. The Jedi Consular specializes in one of two things: The Jedi Sage-a healing and DPS role who uses a single-bladed lightsaber, or the Jedi Shadow who makes use of stealth whilst using a double-bladed lightsaber.

Regardless of which you choose, your Companion characters will be the same. The Consular can use a great deal of CC (crowd controlling) moves, which will stun the opponent, giving you a chance to get in some DPS moves. A force-wielding class, the Jedi Consular possesses a great deal of focus through vigorous Jedi training. They are capable of using both melee attacks with a lightsaber or ranged, telekinetic attacks.

Qyzen-Fess will be the first Companion to the Jedi Consular, and will be found on starter planet Tython. This should be at around level 7. An old friend of Master Yuon’s, he believes that every kill is tallied up by the “grand scoremaster”, and being held captive will mean you lose all score. According to Qyzen, losing your score is a fate worse than death, as losing your score means no afterlife.

Sex: Male
Race: Trandoshan
Recruited: Tython
Level of recruitment: Approximately level 7

If you play typically as a Light side Jedi, you will find that Qyzen is easy to gain affection with, as he too has a Light personality. Due to his Warrior background, he prefers conversation options involving: Killing powerful enemies, encouraging others to defend themselves, danger, and honor, though he dislikes conversation options which consist of: Killing the weak, mercenary work, and sparing powerful enemies.

Qyzen-Fess is a Melee Tank, and benefits from using a Vibrosword and a Shield Generator. Receiving a Tank as your first Companion comes in especially handy if you choose to be a Jedi Sage.

Personality: Light
Role: Melee Tank
Likes: Killing powerful enemies, encouraging others to defend themselves, danger, honor
Dislikes: Killing the weak, mercenary work, sparing powerful enemies
Primary Weapon: Vibrosword
Secondary Weapon: Shield Generator

As you play through SWTOR you will notice certain quests will reward you with Companion-specific items. You will know which these are, as they will contain your Companion’s name in the title. Equipping these as you level up is probably the easiest way to keep your Companion’s gear up to date, though you may prefer to visit (in Qyzen-Fess’ case) a Heavy armor vendor to purchase more unique gear.

Alternatively, the commendations you save from planets can be saved up and spent at the fleet or on the respective planet. These, later on in the game, will start to buy you modifiable gear and armor mods, though you might like to consider using them for your Companions.

This SWTOR Qyzen-Fess Companion Guide is intended to provide you with every detail possible, including crew skill proficiencies. He is not just an ex-warrior who packs a hard punch! He will also gain a bonus if used respectively, giving you +5 Biochem, and +15 Archaeology.

Armor Proficiency: Heavy
Primary Stat: Aim
Secondary Stat: Endurance
Crew Skill Proficiency: +5 Biochem, +15 Archaeology
Romance-able: No

Although Qyzen is a non romance-able Companion character, don’t let that put you off gaining his affection. As you get him early on at a lower level, you will probably gain his affection without even trying through dialogue options. Gaining his affection will mean increasing your Character’s presence attribute, and will also result in Fess being more effective when it comes to crew skills missions. Not to mention the interesting stories you will unlock from his past depending on how much he trusts you!

If you decide later on to use another Companion character instead of Qyzen, but you still want to gain his affection, or maybe you’re playing as a Dark side Jedi and can’t seem to gain his affection? Fear not, as you can buy him gifts from a Companion vendor. However, he will not approve of all the gifts you give him, and buying the wrong type will result in wasted credits and no affection gain. His favorite types are: military gear, technology, underworld goods and weapons.

Weapon: favorite
Military Gear: like
Courting: indifferent
Luxury: indifferent
Technology: like
Republic Memorabilia: indifferent
Imperial Memorabilia: indifferent
Cultural Artifact: indifferent
Trophy: indifferent
Underworld Good: like

Hopefully, my SWTOR Qyzen-Fess Companion Guide gave you some useful information on how to gain his affection, and also how to make the most of him in combat.
