SWTOR Doc Companion Guide

The brilliant medtech known simply as “Doc” is driven to bring quality health care to underserved star systems. This has led Doc to keep some unusual company: pathosis-riddled crime lord Fashaka Four-Toes, the Red Band Rebels of Cadinth and even the Imperial military during a brief stint impersonating a member of the Imperial Medical Corps on the conquered planet Sullust. In this SWTOR Doc Companion Guide I will tell you everything you will ever need to know about him.

The Jedi Order is a paradox, they believe in negotiating and talking things out. They don’t believe in using violence, but at the same time, they are masters at wielding light sabers and using the force offensively. The Jedi Knight will consider negotiation first before applying brute force. When you think of Star Wars, you imagine famous Jedi’s such as Luke Skywalker.

Well, when playing as a Jedi Knight, this is exactly the role you will take on. You may choose one of two specializations: The Sentinel who is a DPS class and wields two lightsabers, and the Guardian who wields a single lightsaber, but specializes in being a tanking class. Regardless of which advanced class you choose, your Companion characters will be the same.

Doc is a ranged healer, which will be very useful to those choosing to be Tanks. You will find him at the end of the Planet Balmorra once you complete your class quests there. This should be at around level 32, though this will depend on how long you take. If you choose to be a Sentinel and specialize in DPS, you will find it more useful to use a Tanking Companion such as T7-01.

Sex: Male
Race: Human
Recruited: Balmorra
Level of recruitment: Approximately level 32

Doc has a talent for using bad people to save good lives–a fact he emphasizes to anyone within earshot. Some characterize Doc as a blowhard and scoundrel, but these individuals have never required his impressive surgical skills. Doc has visited every major galactic battleground over the past five years and saved more lives than even he can count. He prefers conversation options involving: looking like a hero, romance and flirtation, and helping those in need. He dislikes options consisting of: looking bad, hurting the innocent, and refusing to help.
Personality: Light
Role: Healer
Likes: Looking like a hero, romance and flirtation, helping those in need
Dislikes: Looking bad, hurting the innocent, refusing to help
Primary Weapon: Blaster Pistol
Secondary Weapon: Scattergun

As you play through SWTOR, you will notice that many of the quest rewards you receive will be intended for your Companions. You will know this, as the item title will contain your Companion’s name. The items you are offered will be either weapons and off-hand items, or new upgraded armor. If you choose to, you may further personalize your Companions by buying them gear from a Vendor.

As Doc’s proficiency is in Medium armor, you may visit a Medium Armor Vendor to buy him more unique gear. Alternatively, you may visit a Planetary Commendation Vendor, found on the respective planet or the Republic Fleet. Though, I wouldn’t recommend this, as the Commendations you gain should be saved for use on your Character.

Armor Proficiency: Medium
Primary Stat: Cunning
Secondary Stat: Endurance
Crew Skill Proficiency: +5 Underworld Trading Efficiency, +5 Biochem Critical

My SWTOR Doc Companion Guide is intended to provide you with all the information you need on him. He is also gifted when it comes to Crew Skills, and if used correctly, he can gain bonuses in specific missions. If you use him respectively he will gain +5 Underworld Trading Efficiency, and +5 Biochem Critical.

If you play as a female Jedi Knight, you will have the opportunity to pursue a romantic relationship with Doc. However, you may also wish to gain his affection as a male. Regardless of your character’s gender, gaining affection can be a valuable tool, as you will receive bonuses in doing so, including: interesting dialogue and story options with your Companion, increased crew skill effectiveness, and improved “Presence” for your Character.

The quickest and easiest way to gain Doc’s affection would be through buying him gifts. If you quest with him, you will obviously gain his affection by choosing his favorite dialogue options, but this can be a slow-paced process. His favorite gifts are: cultural artifacts, military gear, technology, trophies, weapons, underworld goods, courting (from females) and luxury.
