Smugglers have a reputation for relying more on skill than sheer strength. They use their wits and clever tactics to get the upper hand and usually try to avoid getting close to their enemies. In Star Wars: The Old Republic, Smugglers have the luxury of letting a companion character fill the role of attracting attention and absorbing damage, making Akaavi Spar just as useful as Risha as a companion, though not as good as Corso or Bowdaar due to her role being melee DPS.
Akaavi will be your fourth companion as a Smuggler class, and will be found towards the end of Balmorra. Akaavi Spar was born into a respected Mandalorian clan and became one of its finest warriors. She killed her first foe–an abusive Abyssin mercenary–at the age of eight using an improvised flamethrower…She’s a tough chick.

Race: Mandalorian/Zabrak
Recruited: Balmorra
Level of recruitment: proximately level 35
When you first meet Akaavi, your character is getting ambushed while questing. She is amongst the Imperials trying to kill you, and unexpectedly turns against them when they “didn’t say please”. She prefers conversation options that refer to: combat challenges, profit, and irritating authority figures. Alternatively, she will dislike any conversation options which contain the following: the republic, dishonorable acts, or mercy. Due to her dark personality you may have trouble gaining affection with her if playing typically on the light side.
As she specializes in melee DPS, she will benefit from using an Elecrostaff and Power Generator when heading into battle. Using high powered moves, Akaavi Spar will help obliterate anyone who stands in your way. Whether you choose to be a Scoundrel or Gunslinger however, Akaavi, much like Risha, is not an ideal companion choice. The best choice would be a Tank or a Healer (depending on which advanced class you chose.

While progressing through the story and completing missions, several items specifically intended for Spar will be given as rewards. Some of these will provide the same stats but give different appearances; others are progression items, giving obvious upgrades along the way as the player levels up. Gear specifically intended for a companion is easily recognizable, as the items’ names will contain the companion’s name. You can also purchase new gear for him from heavy armor vendors found across the galaxy.
This SWTOR Akaavi Spar Guide isn’t just for giving you information on her abilities as a fighter however, she also specializes in certain skills. By using Akavi as your go-to for leveling your crew skills up, you will receive a bonus of +10 Armormech, +2 Bioanalysis Critical when used accordingly.
Just like Risha, Akaavi Spar can be romanced by male characters. Being the strong, independent woman that she is, she will take some winning over. Even if you are playing as a female character, gaining affection with her will benefit you by allowing her to open up and hearing about her past life.
If you don’t have the time to play with each individual companion but you still want to gain their affection, or if you just want to boost it up a little, Bioware makes it possible to buy your way to love! Scattered across the galaxy you will find “Companion gift vendors”. There are many different types of gift, and giving the wrong types can resort in wasted money, and no affection gained. Akaavi’s favorite kinds of gifts are: military gear, trophies, weapons, courting (from males), Imperial memorabilia, Republic memorabilia, technology, and underworld goods.
